As a young child, Evelyne Palmer was already painting, drawing, and doing handicrafts in her spare time. Later on, around her 20's she started making collages, and liked to mess around with acrylic paint.
At that age she set the basis of her art work.
She went to different academies following classes, but couldn't adapt to the strict rules of how you should paint etc.
She found out she needed to follow her own path, with no restrictions.
That is how she became an autodidact, embracing freedom of expression.
Her paintings and mixed media collages are made purely intuitive. She uses a lot of bright colors, and scrapimages out of magazines.
Her philosophie is that the Now is what counts. Her art work comes forth out of pure coincedences that come togerher as if coincedence does not exist.
After more than 30 years in scientific research and with retirement approaching, Peter Palmer was ready for a new challenge to remain creative and productive. He decided to let the final years of his regular career transition smoothly into painting. This was something he had wanted to start for a long time, but it was difficult to combine with all his other activities. After early retirement, he began exploring a wide range of styles, thinking that he could eventually find his ‘thing’ somewhere. To his surprise, he actually enjoyed creating something completely different each time. Nevertheless, all his works share a common characteristic: an emphasis on colors that appeal to him and a composition that encourages the viewer to take a visual journey across the painting. He usually uses his own photos and combines them to create a whole that offers much more than each photo individually.
This is now his second exhibition in more than 5 years, featuring many new works.
Na meer dan 30 jaar wetenschappelijk onderzoek en een naderend pensioen was Peter Palmer toe aan een nieuwe uitdaging om creatief en productief te blijven. Hij besloot om de laatste jaren van zijn normale loopbaan vlot te laten overgaan in schilderkunst. Dat was iets dat hij al lang wou beginnen, maar het was moeilijk te combineren met al zijn andere activiteiten. Na zijn vervroegd pensioen begon hij met het exploreren van een brede waaier van stijlen, denkend dat hij wel ergens zijn ‘ding’ zou vinden. Tot zijn verbazing vond hij het juist leuk om telkens iets totaal anders te maken. Toch delen al zijn werken een gemeenschappelijk kenmerk: nadruk op zijn geprefereerde kleuren en een compositie die de kijker aanmoedigt tot een visuele exploratie van het werk. Hij gebruik meestal eigen foto’s en combineert die om een geheel te krijgen die veel meer biedt dan elk foto apart.
Dit is nu zijn tweede expositie na meer dan 5 jaar, met vele nieuwe werken.
